    UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    This Saturday, May 10th, is the Darek Leyde Memorial Utah State Criterium Championship.

    Course:
    The course is going to be FAST!  Less than 2k/lap, it has something for everyone.  Did i mention it is going to be fast?!  This is not the RMR you are used to; no oval, no circuit race.  This is a real criterium with plenty of turns and a huge finish line.  You will NOT be disappointed.

    Trophies:
    The trophies are COOL!  Not only will you have bragging rights as the State Criterium Champion, you will have something really cool to put on your mantel.

    Darek Leyde:
    This criterium is named after a really great guy that we raced with.  He passed away from skin cancer (something all cyclists should be cautious of), and we were all saddened by his loss.  Please wear plenty of sunscreen and keep Darek in your thoughts.

    Registration:
    You can register online at:
    https://www.sportsbaseonline.com/Item.aspx?item_id=2511
    A second race is just $15.

    See you out there!

    Re: UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    Sorry, I was at a conference until today. They will be up this afternoon.

    Again, I hope you guys are emailing the promoters as well.  The points give an incomplete look at the results.  All promoters should be expected to put their results on their website as well.   I would think they would rather have us look at the official race website for results, with links to their generous sponsors, versus having everyone come to the UCA site first.  But I could be wrong.

    Re: UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    I tend to just check here because I don't always know the event site and it's like "one stop shopping" to see the UCA standings as well.

    Thanks for all your work getting the results/standings together.  The series adds a ton to our local scene.

    Re: UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    Todd,

    UCA Bylaws state that the UCA posts race results (communication (2))   UCA Bylaws do not require a promoter to have a website for results, or any reason!  If the UCA doesn't want to post results, and doesn't want the riders to come to their website to find races, then what does the UCA do?

    Communication

     UCA will utilize a web site for communicating with the cycling public. The site will contain:

    1.      A current race calendar;

    2.      Race results;

    3.      The current Utah Point Series standings;

    4.      A list of Member Clubs, including web links if available;

    5.      The Utah Point Series rules;

    6.      A list of UCA Directors, including contact information and assigned duties;

    7.      A UCA Rider Forum;

    8.      Web links to all Corporate Sponsors;

    9.      A private UCA membership discussion forum. This forum will eliminate much of the need for travel to meetings.

    Re: UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    I just gave my resignation to the board.  I'm done.  I just don't have the time to do all the work that is needed.  The State Crit results came to me with 13 Rider Unknowns.  Not sure how that happens, especially in a junior race with 12 riders.  I can see my inbox filling up with those Unknown Riders and redoing the results over and over.  I've tried to get the promoters more involved in the pre/post race doings, but this response of essentially "it's your job." is the last straw.

    Re: UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

    Todd,

    Hey, the officials didn't get the numbers of these riders.  We posted these at the race, left them up on the trailer the entire race, and no one came up and said, "hey, this is me."  What are the officials supposed to do if the rider doesn't give them their number, and as a promoter, what am I supposed to do to track these racers down?

    Todd, I'm not saying, "this is your job."  It is not my job, or the officials job either.  If racers don't want to take the time to look at results and make sure they are correct then it is their responsibility.  Save your email box and your sanity and if someone says they are an unknown rider, then that is their fault.  It is clearly stated in the USAC rule book that the results are official at the race.
